Weekend Getaways in the Wondrous Western Cape
Winter is a wonderful time to have a weekend getaway in the Western Cape, which is blessed with such an enormous abundance of natural beauty, leisure activities, varied attractions, and diverse landscapes. In fact, the wondrous Western Cape is not only all about Cape Town itself, the white sandy beaches, Table Mountain, wine and vineyards, and the two great oceans that meet off the Cape Coast, glorious though these features and others may be.
Its very diversity is a key component that makes the Western Cape as supremely attractive as it is for a quick getaway or a long, leisurely holiday. With so much to see and do in a province that is comparatively only the fourth largest – by both area and population – amongst all nine of South Africa’s designated provinces, there’s certainly no shortage of weekend getaway destinations in the coastal and inland areas of the Western Cape.
Cosy and Comfortable Contrasts
Even if you prefer to cocoon yourself in cosy, comfortable quarters during the Cape winter months, our resort in the Cederberg is a great weekend getaway destination, made all the more cosy and comfortable by the contrast between the prevailing colder weather and our unique, cocoon-worthy “cave” rooms, quaint hut suites, or timeshare chalets at Kagga Kamma.
We’re situated in the heart of the Western Cape’s iconic Cederberg wilderness, amid the craggy, rugged weather-worn sandstone rock formations that display the very ancient essence of the Cederberg and its rich cultural history and heritage. Our comfy, well-appointed accommodation options that keep the winter weather at bay ensure that your weekend stay at Kagga Kamma will delight you.
Far and Close Enough
Despite the resort’s remote location, its sense of isolation and pervading peace and tranquillity, imbued by the visible signs of the passing of the ages in the Cederberg, Kagga Kamma is only about 250 km, three hours’ travel by road, from Cape Town itself – far enough away to provide a total escape from the hustle and bustle of a big, tourist attracting city, yet conveniently close enough for an ideally situated, unique weekend getaway.
There’s no lack of modern amenities to ensure your comfort during your weekend break at Kagga Kamma. During the Western Cape winter months, it’s advisable to bring along your winter woollies, a windbreaker, or other weather-resistant outer garments, as you would normally to keep cold temperatures at bay anywhere else in the Western Cape.
Our “cave” and hut rooms are equipped with warm bedding and air conditioning to ensure that your nights are warm and comfy all weekend long. Your full-board stay tariff includes a choice of a fascinating Rock Art Tour, a guided morning or late night Nature Drive – the delight of nature loving guests, or a supremely romantic Sundowner Tour of a part of the Cederberg.
Kagga Kamma’s bar is a snug communal retreat, while our à la carte restaurant serves delicious, freshly prepared South African fare, paired with super wines from the Western Cape’s renowned wine estates. Vegan and halaal menu options are available on request, by prior arrangement.
Relax and re-energise at our spa, and enjoy a host of other excursions and activities during an unforgettable weekend getaway in the Western Cape’s Kagga Kamma, where a warm welcome awaits you, during winter months and sunny summers.
