Full Board or Self-Catering – Cederberg Has It All!

As a premier resort and holiday destination, our establishment prides itself on offering our guests a truly unique experience – a select number of cave suites and rondavels and one spacious, well-appointed self-catering chalet, right in the heartland of the beautiful, unspoiled Cederberg.

Whilst our full board, and bed and breakfast options remain popular, some guests do prefer to cater for themselves, especially since there is so much to see, do and experience in the Cederberg that they want to explore somewhat further afield than our immediate area.

Popular Attractions

  • Early morning and late night nature drive, accompanied by one of our knowledgeable guides, who will point out features and creatures of interest, both diurnal and nocturnal, leaving visitors with a deep understanding and appreciation of this unique, diverse natural environment.
  • Little beats a relaxing, enjoyable sundowner tour in the clear, fresh Cederberg air. If you have never watched the orange colours of the setting sun transform the vast African sky to pre-dark purple hues – in unpolluted conditions, it is time to do so.
  • Our Bushman art tour is a must, since numerous rocky outcrops are dotted with fine examples of the San’s paintings. They were this region’s first known, ancient inhabitants, who manufactured their own pigments by mixing powdered coloured stone with animal fat. Rangers take guests to some of the best viewing spots, whilst visitors on walking trails frequently discover more rock paintings en route.
  • The mini observatory normally offers wonderful views of the stars and night sky in the southern hemisphere, but is temporarily out of commission. However, because there is no artificially created light pollution, visitors still have excellent views of the galaxies and stars overhead, which seem to be closer to earth than when seen from anywhere else on terra firma.
  • Tailor made for physically active guests, we offer two mountain bike trails, one each of 10km and 30km, both featuring views, vistas, fauna and flora galore, unique to our corner of Eden.
  • The 4×4 trails are equally scenic and test the capabilities of both drivers and their vehicles over a distance of about 100km, which can be challenging. As a result, we recommend that the route should be driven by at least two vehicles simultaneously.
  • Quad bike trails and safaris may be undertaken in order to experience lovely, wild parts of this wilderness, which are not accessible by other means.
  • Hiking routes allow guests to observe nature at close quarters and at their own pace.
  • Our principal field guide is a qualified snake handler with an extensive knowledge of the amphibians and reptiles of the Cederberg. As and when he encounters any of these species, he shares his knowledge with visitors.

The first four activities are complimentary for guests on full board tariff, but may be requested by others at nominal additional fees. Our region also offers many other delights and is the sole home of the renowned rooibos, from which delicious teas, health, skin and beauty products are made.
